Sacrifice of Praise Friday, May 30 2014

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

I don’t know just how many times I’ve read Hebrews 13 but for some reason I had absolutely no recollection of this verse.

There are days when the music plays in my head all day, the praying in tongues rolls off my lips like honey, and the Spirit of LORD is upon me. I especially like the songs that name the name of Jesus in them. There is such power in that name.

The desire of my whole heart is to please God.

I am the product of his handiwork and I am awed by all he does in my life. I love how he shows up. He is a do-gooder too. He goes about doing good things for us to see. He answers our prayers, heals our infirmities, and blesses our soul.

He brings us up out of the muck and mire of our sin and shines his light on us. He carries our burdens, restores us to himself, gives us strength like wings on eagles.

Isaiah 40:30 But those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Walk on.

Giving the sacrifice of praise! Lift holy hands. Praise His holy name.  He is worthy, of honor, and glory, and power.

Asa lama lakum. “Peace be unto you.”

God’s Protection Thursday, May 29 2014

Looks like stormy weather…forever.

God is with you. He walks with you in the cool of the morning. He knows every intimate detail of your individual situation. He cares for you.

The rain falls on the righteous and the wicked.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

He leads me on. I am not afraid. He is there.

For all those days you feel all alone, remember that He is with you. The right hand of his righteousness shall lead you into the way everlasting. He numbers every hair on your head. He makes the sun and stars to shine for your benefit. He made the world for you. All that He has is yours. His angels stand guard over you to protect you lest you strike your foot against a stone.

Choirs of angels rejoice at just one sinner who repents. He loves you.

All creation sings that He alone is God. But most of all, He is your Father. He is faithful and true. There is no one like Him. He is Holy.

Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is God.

We can’t even fathom God’s grace and mercy. How full and rich are His mercies. They are new every morning. Nothing can separate us from His love.

Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Approaching God Wednesday, May 28 2014

James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

John 9: While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

Approaching God is no easy thing. The closer we get the more sinful we appear. It makes us uncomfortable to be found out for what we really are. God seems unapproachable. So how do we come out into His glorious light? It is by confession.

Isaiah 59: 1Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
But your iniquities have separated
    you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.
For your hands are stained with blood,
    your fingers with guilt.
Your lips have spoken falsely,
and your tongue mutters wicked things.

Shine your light on His goodness, His glory, His majesty. Remind Him of His wondrous works. Thank Him for the miracles in your life.

Show Him you are aware of His presence in your life through worship: Sing, dance, rejoice.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.[b]
They tell of the power of your awesome works—
and I will proclaim your great deeds.

The more you rejoice in the LORD the closer He comes. It is in this worship that He reveals himself to us and approaches us and does His wondrous works. He heals the sick, cleanses our sins, and brings us into His wondrous light. This is the place of His rest. This is the hour of our salvation.

Exodus 15:2 “The Lord is my strength and my defense[a];
    he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 35:9 Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord
    and delight in his salvation.

Forget About Satisfying Your Sinful Self Tuesday, May 27 2014

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Let today be His day. Put on Christ early like a garment. So that when people see you they see Him in you, on you, above you, and through you.

The War is On Monday, May 26 2014

12 Joshua took all these royal cities and their kings and put them to the sword. He totally destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded. 13 Yet Israel did not burn any of the cities built on their mounds—except Hazor, which Joshua burned. 14 The Israelites carried off for themselves all the plunder and livestock of these cities, but all the people they put to the sword until they completely destroyed them, not sparing anyone that breathed. 15 As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

16 So Joshua took this entire land: the hill country, all the Negev, the whole region of Goshen, the western foothills, the Arabah and the mountains of Israel with their foothills, 17 from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, to Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and put them to death. 18 Joshua waged war against all these kings for a long time. 19 Except for the Hivites living in Gibeon, not one city made a treaty of peace with the Israelites, who took them all in battle. 20 For it was the Lord himself who hardened their hearts to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

21 At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir and Anab, from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns. 22 No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod did any survive.

23 So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.

This is the way we should go about attacking the things in our lives that are putting God second or even last. Attack all the things. God said, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” This is the battle we face. To conquer addictions, preoccupations, objects; whatever it is that separates us from God. Leave nothing undone. Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and The Last, the Beginning and the End”.

Make him the beginning of each day and the last thing you think about at night. Give him all of your time, your energy, your resources, your will. Pray in earnest, “Thy will be done.”

Gifts Thursday, May 22 2014

Gifts

(Administration and Operation of God’s Church)

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

(Ignorant comes from the root word ignore. Do not ignore this.)

Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

(This is the equivalent of saying listen to me before you go astray again.)

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

(This is how to tell if someone is saved.)

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

(God uses his Spirit to benefit the Church)

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

(These gifts speak to your brothers and sisters in Christ in love and mercy.)

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

(These gifts touch your brothers and sisters in Christ in restoration and renewal.)

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

(These gifts deal with the tongue. God said, “Let there be light and there was light.” Your tongue too can work miracles.)

11 But all these work that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

(We are given the gifts as we need them. You may have them all before it is all said and done.)

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

(This is how the body of Christ, the Church, works.)

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

(When you eat something it becomes a part of you. That is how we should be with the Spirit of God. Drink it up. Everybody drink Him into your life.)

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

(It’s not about me. It’s about the group.)

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

(This is a God thing. He does it.)

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

(To function as a Church we need many members.)

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

(This means don’t discriminate against the elderly, the weak, the frail, and men of low estate. God uses the weak to change the strong.)

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

(God’s power converts them to useful vessels for his work.)

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.

25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

(It’s all about unity.)

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

(We are one in the Spirit. We are one in the LORD.)

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

(Each individual in a Church has something to contribute. A song, a word of knowledge, a healing, a prophecy.)

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

(The order is to administer to the needs of the Church; Christ’s bride. These are in the order of importance.)

29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

(We should be doing all of these things in the Church. Not just teaching or preaching or worshiping.)

30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

(The point is some do. There are people in the Church that God has given these gifts to and they should be used as needed.)

31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Understanding Your New Heart Wednesday, May 21 2014

God’s creativity reaches beyond the creativity of man. It goes beyond the 3D printers of today. It reaches into the vastness of time and space and makes a new heart for each of us. In that new heart are many dimensions and facets.

In the 4th dimension the attribute of love is added. This is the love that allows us to love others because God first loved us. This love sees beyond their faults and opens our ears to the cries of others for help, service, and hope.

In the 5th dimension the attribute of joy is added. This is the joy that gives us strength. The joy of the LORD is my strength. This strength goes beyond the physical and adds from God the ingredients fortitude, courage, and stamina. We are able to withstand in the day of trial.

In the 6th dimension the attribute of peace is added. This is the peace that passes understanding.

These three dimensions make up the facets that reflects the heart of Christ to others.

In the 7th dimension the attribute of longsuffering is added. This is patience. Patience with others, patience with God, and patience with yourself.

In The 8th dimension the attribute of gentleness is added. This is kindness. Being kind to others is the whole purpose of man. The ingredient of kindness is needed in every relationship. Kindness sees beyond the here and now and opens our ears to the future where we are ever listening for opportunities to reflect the kindness of His Spirit.

In the 9th dimension the attribute of goodness is added. You have heard it said that only God is good. Your new heart has this God given ingredient. It is a part of your new heart. You have the desire to do good, be good, and become good. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. You begin to see the God in others, how His Spirit is manifested in the new hearts of others.

These three dimensions make up the facets that reflects the heart of Christ back to ourselves.

In the 10th dimension the attribute of faith is added. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of the things unseen. This is where you know in your heart that God is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. This is the mustard seed faith that moves mountains. The evidence of our Creator is in this dimension. Not only our faith but His faithfulness.

In the 11th dimension the attribute of meekness is added. The meek will inherit the earth. The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live forever. This is the New Earth. The city not made with hands that comes down from above. For the Lord takes pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

In The 12th dimension the attribute of temperance is added. This is self-control. This leads to a turning away from temptation, strife, hate, unfaithfulness, impurity, selfishness, jealousy, divisiveness, envy and other things like these.

These three dimensions make up the facets that reflects God back to himself. God actually sees Christ in us. Our new heart is the heart of Christ with His desires, His purposes, and His hopes for eternity.

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

These three facets are just a small example of how God’s thoughts are above our thoughts and His ways are above our ways. Your new heart will help you to understand God’s ways better.

I pray from this understanding that God would grant you wisdom in everything you do. May you become the gem of a person you were intended to become.

Taste of Heaven Saturday, May 10 2014

It is the Spirit of God in you that prays in accordance with the will of God ,”on Earth as it is in Heaven.” And our God answers that prayer anew each day as we pray so that we here on Earth might know the joy of Heaven even now as we walk in the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead. Our eternal life in Christ begins here and now as He fills our body with His Spirit and we walk in Him doing the will of God with our own two hands and our own to feet we are able to go about doing the good that God would do.

Therefore, allow the thankfulness in your heart today to flow forth in praise for the trials you endure in Christ. I.e. ” count it all joy…”

May God be with you all.

Heaven’s Attributes Thursday, May 8 2014

It would be nice to know what Heaven is going to be like since the whole family of Christians is going spend eternity there.

Scripture tells us about what we can expect to see there.

Those in heaven are aware of what’s happening on the Earth. Rev 6:9-11.

They remember their life on Earth. Rev 6.

We will not be different people but the same people only transfigured. We will remember God’s work of grace in our lives.

There will be a great white throne judgement. Rev 20:11-13.

What should we do with all of this information? Will it change the way we treat each other? Will it change our relationship with God?

So many things can be inferred just knowing these things. It is important to remember that God loves us totally. Although His sense of timing may be different to Him we will always be His.

Heaven is Real Wednesday, May 7 2014

Even before I saw this movie about a four year old seeing heaven while on the operating table, I knew that heaven is real. No, I’ve never had a near death experience, but I’ve been privileged to see what looked like fire in my hands during a healing conference. It was the color of honey but moved like smoke. Once you’ve had a religious experience you are never the same. You can’t deny what you saw with your own eyes. Since that happened to me in October of 2007, God has been more a part of my daily existence. It is easier to pray because I know that God can and does show up. “God is and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

It is like the wind. You can’t see it but you see the effects of its presence. Each day, I look forward to seeing what He will do. Recently, my husband and I reviewed his prayer list and every single item had been answered. Amazing!

Not only is heaven real but God is real too.
