Yesterday we learned about the lessons of dirt where layers of soil were called horizons. Today I’d like to bring to light the true horizons. That place where the earth and sky appear to meet. When you see the sunrise each morning it is a reminder to keep the light of Jesus on your life.

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 5:16 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

On the surface we can see where we are going. We have the promises of scripture to stand on.

19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.

A true horizon is the limit or range of perception, knowledge, or the like. When we live as he lived we can grow to know him more and more. We are no longer blinded by sin but instead we are given a new perspective. We see things in a new light. Our horizons are broadened. The journey to heaven is paved with peace.

When we abide in him, we are more than conquerors.

Yes, there will be storms and challenges, but through it all He will never leave us nor forsake us.

We are admonished in the book of Ephesians 5:7-9New International Version (NIV)

Therefore do not be partners with them.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth).

We live in the kingdom of light:

Colossians 1:11-13New International Version (NIV)

11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[a] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

This makes my heart want to rejoice. The true horizons are such a wonderful promise.

We are children of the light.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6New International Version (NIV)

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

1 John 1:

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

He is the Father of lights. He has no turning.
