Sensational Victory

I hear the voice of heaven, arc angel bending low.

I see the shimmering rain upon the pebbled stone.

Feathers touching hand stretched high.

Scent of lilac passing by.

Force of angel armies conquering throng.

Victory O Victory our hopeful song.

May God’s blessings be upon us today

As we stand sojourners of the Way.

Alive in Christ Sunday, Oct 30 2016

Christ is all, and in all [so believers are equal in Christ, without distinction].

12 So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]; 13 bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive. 14 Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others]. 15 Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. 16 Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

7
“Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord
And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord.

“For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters,
That spreads out its roots by the river;
And will not fear the heat when it comes;
But its leaves will be green and moist.
And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought
Nor stop bearing fruit.

God’s People Wednesday, Oct 26 2016

[I am writing] to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called to be saints (God’s people) and set apart for a sanctified life, [that is, set apart for God and His purpose]: Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith [your trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness] is being proclaimed in all the world. For God, whom I serve with my spirit by preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how continuously I mention you 10 in my prayers; always pleading that somehow, by God’s will, I may now at last come to you. 11 For I long to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift, to strengthen and establish you; 12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged and comforted by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. 13 I do not want you to be unaware, [c]brothers and sisters, that many times I have planned to come to you, (and have been prevented so far) so that I may have some fruit [of my labors] among you, even as I have among the rest of the Gentiles. 14 I have a duty to perform and a debt to pay both to Greeks and to barbarians [the cultured and the uncultured], both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So, for my part, I am ready and eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation [from His wrath and punishment] to everyone who believes [in Christ as Savior], to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.”

God’s Preeminence Tuesday, Oct 25 2016

Psalm 46:1-11

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

God’s Security Monday, Oct 3 2016

I will start right off with a disclaimer: You may not see the full meaning of this post until the end. Now don’t go looking to the bottom…be patient.

Let us begin in Proverbs 2:

Proverbs 2Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Pursuit of Wisdom Brings Security

My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,

So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly];

Yes, if you cry out for insight,
And lift up your voice for understanding;

If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver
And search for her as you would hidden treasures;

Then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome]
And discover the knowledge of God.

We can list out the things that God is giving us that lead to attaining his “Security”.

1.Wisdom

2. Understanding

3. Insight

4. Fear of the Lord

5. Knowledge

You have heard it said or read in your bible that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”

What we are ultimately pursuing is wisdom but there are stepping stones to that wisdom.

Imagine if you will flattened stones with these words you see on them. The first you see is “Fear of the LORD.” When we step out in faith we often are amazed at the awesomeness of our God. We learn to respect his guidance.

Let’s continue:

6
For the Lord gives [skillful and godly] wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He stores away sound wisdom for the righteous [those who are in right standing with Him];
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity [those of honorable character and moral courage],

He guards the paths of justice;
And He preserves the way of His saints (believers).

Then you will understand righteousness and justice [in every circumstance]
And integrity and every good path.
10
For [skillful and godly] wisdom will enter your heart
And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

We continue listing what it is that God is giving us:

6. God gives godly, sound wisdom

7. Righteousness

8. Obedience

9. Integrity

10. Honorable Character

11. Moral Courage

12. Fortitude

13. Justice

14. Faith

All of these gifts come from walking in the Spirit the path set out before us. “He preserves the way of His saints.” Remember Jesus said, “I am the Way”.

Let us continue:

11
Discretion will watch over you,
Understanding and discernment will guard you,
12
To keep you from the way of evil and the evil man,
From the man who speaks perverse things;
13
From those who leave the paths of uprightness
To walk in the ways of darkness;
14
Who find joy in doing evil
And delight in the perversity of evil,
15
Whose paths are crooked,
And who are devious in their ways;
16
To keep you from the immoral woman;
From the seductress with her flattering words,
17
Who leaves the companion (husband) of her youth,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
18
For her house leads down to death
And her paths lead to the dead;
19
None who go to her return again,
Nor do they regain the paths of life—
20
So you will walk in the way of good men [that is, those of personal integrity, moral courage and honorable character],
And keep to the paths of the righteous.

We continue our list of God’s gifts:

15. Discretion

16. Discernment

17. Guarded

God’s way is called the straight and narrow. We are called to “follow Him.” Remember our prayer, “Lead me in the way everlasting…”

And finally:

21
For the upright [those who are in right standing with God] will live in the land
And those [of integrity] who are blameless [in God’s sight] will remain in it;
22
But the wicked will be cut off from the land
And the treacherous shall be [forcibly] uprooted and removed from it.

18. Blameless

19. Land

20. Security

I hope you will heed the warning that the treacherous shall be forcibly uprooted and removed from the land. God keeps his promises. His word does not go away void. He and he alone is our Security, our LORD, and our Way.[King] emphasis mine.
