God’s Grace Friday, Aug 25 2017

Now here we have a topic of the utmost importance. Understanding the working’s of God’s grace in our lives is to possess the keys to the kingdom.

In order to fully explain the meaning and implication of this topic it is imperative that I use some form of analogy or word picture. His grace is like the oars of a rowboat. Without the oars, the rowboat wanders aimlessly driven by the wind and weather.

In fact the strength to row the boat comes from God as well. Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

It is by grace that we have been saved through faith-Eph2: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God provides the map of the voyage as well. Proverbs 19:21 21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,  but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

He provides the purpose of the voyage. Ephesians 1:8-10 With all wisdom and understanding, he[a] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

He provides the means and the wherewithal. 1 Timothy 6:17b but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

He built the rowboat, “our bodies”.  Colossians 1:16-17

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

His Word is our lamp. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.

His grace is glorious, free, and rich. Ephesians 1: to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,

He has given me grace to share with you this blog about His attributes.

God’s Miracles

We can choose to concentrate upon the desires of the flesh until we finally give into temptations, or we can choose to be born again. It is a miracle. We cannot change by ourselves. Only the God of creation can regenerate us into new people, a saved people, a living people. Almighty God recreates us anew. He is the one who does it all. We have only to receive from Him his perfect unconditional love.

So many times, people choose not to take God up on his offer of salvation because they have pride and want to be able to contribute to their own salvation by doing something before they come to God for a little assistance.  It won’t work.

Man has absolutely nothing to do with his own salvation. When he is born again he is regenerated, changed, made anew. The eternal God does the work. We are finite. We are very small. We are incapable of saving ourselves. We can’t even understand what is happening to us as God regenerates us.

Listen to the voice of God when He speaks to your heart, “Come”.  Answer the call. “Do you want to be saved?”

Approach God with reverence and godly fear. He is the God of holiness, and of power. Your breath is in His hands. Take off your shoes from off your feet. Humble yourself before you are standing before him at the end of your life. Accept His offer of salvation. Be ready to listen, be afraid to look. Quiver. Stand trembling in the presence of the Almighty God. Put your hands over your face because he is kind, pure, and holy. There is no hope for any of us until we are silenced and shamed before a holy God. “God, be merciful to me a sinner.”

Cast yourself as you are before him. Listen to His message of deliverance.  That he loves you with an everlasting love. He wants to make you his child, to put a new heart, a new mind, a new desire, a new purpose in you. Yield yourself to it.

Do you want to be saved? Amen.
