Marks of the Spiritual Life

The Scripture for today is John 3:8 KJV
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

  1. In order to see the Kingdom of God, one must be born again.
  2. Christians are identifiable.
  3. Christians are being dealt with by the Holy Spirit.
  4. Christians are amazed with themselves.
  5. Other people can see a difference in them.
  6. It causes discord with unsaved family members.
  7. Christians have spiritual understanding.
  8. Christians desire more and more spiritual understanding.
  9. Christians are living and growing; babes to children, children to men, men to mature men.
  10. Christians realize that they are like men brought in off of the street into a great palace full of food and art and knowledge-a great treasure.
  11. Christians are not content with preliminaries
  12. Christians are the light of the world.
  13. Christians have a concern for the unregenerate.
  14. Christians have a desire to “share” the treasure with others because of the fountain of life from the Holy Spirit within them that overflows from a heart of compassion for the lost.

It’s like the difference between fake fruit and real fruit. The plastic fruit looks good on the outside but there is no “life”. It is useless, inedible.

The true Christian testifies from within his own heart that has the Spirit of the Living God in it. He respects each person he approaches. He has great grief of the soul over lost souls. It isn’t mechanical or counterfeit. To him it is a deeply serious thing with eternal consequences. It is profound. He prays about it. The Spirit works with him giving patience, long-suffering, and love with and for the lost and unregenerate.
