The Work of God’s Hands Saturday, Jul 21 2018

LORD,

The wonders of your creation are marvelous to behold. The motion, the color, the ever changing and enduring work of your hands is ever before me. My heart rejoices in the beauty of it all; the galaxies, the quiet pools, green pastures, floral landscapes, gently blowing fields of wheat, cherry blossoms, snow on mountain peaks, the moon by night upon the water, raging rivers, deep blue seas, the rocks and rills, my soul perceives, a ray of sun, a poppy field, an ocean view, a forest green, a fall scene, a misty morning, a starry warning, the calm before a storm, a rainbow through the sun, a nebula, the northern lights and a million other sights….

God’s Grace Friday, Aug 25 2017

Now here we have a topic of the utmost importance. Understanding the working’s of God’s grace in our lives is to possess the keys to the kingdom.

In order to fully explain the meaning and implication of this topic it is imperative that I use some form of analogy or word picture. His grace is like the oars of a rowboat. Without the oars, the rowboat wanders aimlessly driven by the wind and weather.

In fact the strength to row the boat comes from God as well. Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

It is by grace that we have been saved through faith-Eph2: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God provides the map of the voyage as well. Proverbs 19:21 21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,  but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

He provides the purpose of the voyage. Ephesians 1:8-10 With all wisdom and understanding, he[a] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

He provides the means and the wherewithal. 1 Timothy 6:17b but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

He built the rowboat, “our bodies”.  Colossians 1:16-17

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

His Word is our lamp. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.

His grace is glorious, free, and rich. Ephesians 1: to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,

He has given me grace to share with you this blog about His attributes.

God’s Creation Wednesday, Jan 11 2017

I just love the smell of lilacs. Oh and lavender is wonderful too. Roses are so sweet and full of fond memories of years gone by so long ago. Set aside for a moment all that we see in God’s universe and just concentrate on our sense of smell. The smell of food cooking sends us to the kitchen to see what it is that smells so good. What a wonderful part of God’s creation!

Before God created the universe and everything in it was the Word.

John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

God created all things.

Psalm 33:6-9 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea into jars[a];
    he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
    let all the people of the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it came to be;
    he commanded, and it stood firm.

Until we understand that God spoke the universe into being we will never learn the power of the tongue.

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

When our purpose is at odds with God’s purpose for his creation then his intervention supersedes ours.

The Tower of Babel

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

It is within our desire to make a name for ourselves that we drift off the path of our true purpose and calling. It is by His grace, His glory, His purpose that we live and move and have our being.

Hebrews 1Amplified Bible (AMP)

God’s Final Word in His Son

God, having spoken to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth], and in many ways, has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum]. The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God’s [a]Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation and perfect imprint of His [Father’s] essence, and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]. When He [Himself and no other] had [by offering Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin] accomplished purification from sins and established our freedom from guilt, He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority], having become as much superior to angels, since He has inherited a more excellent and glorious [b]name than they [that is, Son—the name above all names].

For to which of the angels did the Father ever say,

You are My Son,
Today I have begotten (fathered) You [established You as a Son, with kingly dignity]”?

And again [did He ever say to the angels],

I shall be a Father to Him
And He shall be a Son to Me”?

[c]And when He again brings the firstborn [highest-ranking Son] into the world, He says,

And all the angels of God are to worship Him.”

And concerning the angels He says,

Who makes His angels winds,
And His ministering servants flames of fire [to do His bidding].”

But about the Son [the Father says to Him],

Your throne, [d]O God, is forever and ever,
And the [e]scepter of [absolute] righteousness is the scepter of [f]His kingdom.

You have loved righteousness [integrity, virtue, uprightness in purpose] and have hated lawlessness [injustice, sin].
Therefore God, Your God, Has anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.”

10 And,

[g]You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,
And the heavens are the works of Your hands;
11
They will perish, but You remain [forever and ever];
And they will all wear out like a garment,
12
And like a robe You will roll them up;
Like a garment they will be changed.
But [h]You are the same [forever],
And Your years will never end.”

13 But to which of the angels has the Father ever said,

Sit at My right hand [together with me in royal dignity],
Until I make your enemies
A footstool for your feet [in triumphant conquest]”?

14 Are not all the angels ministering spirits sent out [by God] to serve (accompany, protect) those who will inherit salvation? [Of course they are!]
