God’s Reason Monday, May 22 2017

Psalm 118: 24 This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

1 John 3:7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

David prayed, “Psalm 61:6-8New International Version (NIV)

Increase the days of the king’s life,
his years for many generations.
May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;
appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

Then I will ever sing in praise of your name
and fulfill my vows day after day.

God is in control. David knew it. I know it. And, you know it.

He did not just make the world and then just walk away. He walked with man in the garden. He talked with man in the garden. He walks and talks with us today. God is never changing. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”

He has created us to do his will. Now, tell me this, how are we going to do what God wants us to do if we don’t ask him? And if we do ask him, do we expect to get an answer? When you pray, it had better be a two-sided conversation or you’ll never “get it.”

Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God’s Kiss Monday, Mar 20 2017

Psalm 119:132-134New International Version (NIV)

132 Turn to me and have mercy on me,
as you always do to those who love your name.
133 Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me.
134 Redeem me from human oppression,
that I may obey your precepts.

In the fullness of your love, I am so in love with you, Jesus. I honor and glorify your holy name.

Father, you are holy.

You are righteous.

You are good.

You answer my prayers. You know my heart.

By the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimonies, I overcome. Raise up an army of lovers; willing to fight to the death.

Face to face; I want to see you, LORD.

1 Thessalonians 5:25-27 25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. 27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

Your love is like a room full of precious jewels. When it is just me and you I can’t remember life without you. In your presence, LORD, I am lost in the warmth of your smile. Your love is like a ray covering my soul. The kisses from above give me strength. Your love is like the ocean.

1 Peter 5:14 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.

Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

The Word of God

The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.

Ability of God Sunday, Aug 21 2016

Ephesians 3:20-21Amplified Bible (AMP)

20 Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Jude 24-25Amplified Bible (AMP)

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling or falling into sin, and to present you unblemished [blameless and faultless] in the presence of His glory with triumphant joy and unspeakable delight, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

If you can’t think of a reason to glorify God, these few verses ought to give you a pretty good idea that we should glorify Him for His ABILITIES.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 Rejoice always and delight in your faith; 17 be unceasing and persistent in prayer; 18 in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:16-18Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

What God Wants Sunday, Dec 7 2014

What God Wants

God is a god of details. He cares about all the little things going on in our lives. He wants us to pray about them. He wants us to pray in the Spirit so that even those things we don’t fully understand can be made right by him.

He wants us to keep our eyes on the unseen because it is eternal.

We are to pray and seek his face in all we do. He wants to be active in our lives in such a way that we are certain that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.

He is the LORD of our souls.

If you would have wisdom ask of God and he will give it to you freely.

Pray for peace.

Know this; that God chastens those he loves.

God deals with us by his Spirit that is in us. A nudge or a prod is all it takes to bring us to our senses. When you are tempted and the Spirit chides you, flee. Get away from it.

God wants you to choose rightly and for you to be right with him. We are the children of God. We are called to love, honor, and obey him. We are called to worship and pray and to live our lives in the will of God doing His work.

There are seven things we need to walk: in the Spirit of the LORD, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the LORD.

There are also seven things that God hates: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

Gratitude Journal (History in the Making) Wednesday, Feb 5 2014

I think it is important for you to begin a gratitude journal. Each time that God answers your prayers, write it down. Thank Him for it. When you read through your old gratitude journals, you will see His Story in the making. When you are grateful, God is in the very fibers of your life woven like a pattern of color into the fabric. He cares for you.

I have several years, worth of journals, I have written where each day; I thank God for what he is doing through and for me. I see miracle after miracle happening all around me. I know that he has touched my life. His Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God.

His providence has brought me through this far. Now that I keep a gratitude journal, I look back at my childhood and see times when God had his hand on me. As a child I wrote a song thanking God.

“What a wonderful, wonderful God. What a wonderful, wonderful Lord. You’re my Savior from heaven above. You’re my Lord with undying love. What a glory full, glory full God. What a glory full, glory full Lord. You’re my Savior from heaven above. You’re my Lord with undying love. What a beautiful, beautiful God. What a beautiful, beautiful Lord. You’re my Savior from heaven above. You’re my Lord with undying love.” I made it up while looking at the stars at the age of fourteen.

When I was a young woman, I had trouble conceiving a child. I had a miraculous healing and had a healthy son after many miscarriages including twins.

I am thankful for what God has done in my life. He has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. I now have a whole brood of children in my third and fourth grade Sunday school class. God is good.

Maybe you don’t know what to write in your journal. Start with your prayers. List all the things you want God to change in your life. Ask Him.

Then, go back and read the prayers and see how many God has answered. As you see the answers to your prayers unfolding it will build your faith in his power.

I Peter 1:8-9 “And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of  your faith the salvation of your souls.”  It is this faith that has unlimited potential.

Mark 9:23-24 “And Jesus said to him, “If you can!  All things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father cried out and began saying, “I do believe: help my unbelief.”

It is this faith that will make things happen. Matt 8:13 “And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; let it be done to you as you have believed.” And the servant was heal that very hour.”

The righteous live by faith, Hab 2:4 “Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.”

Living by faith. Romans 1:17 “for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

It is this faith that justifies you. Romans 5:1-3 “Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.”

You can be confident of the unseen. Romans 8:24-25 “for in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees?  But if we hope for what we do not see with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.”

How to Enter into His Rest Monday, Jan 13 2014

Yesterday, the blog was about How to Walk in the Spirit, today it will be about How to Enter His Rest.

To begin, I’d like to say that I don’t think it is any coincidence that you came here today. I believe that something I am about to say is just for you.

We live in a time when everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. Our time is spent rushing from place to place. Unlike money time isn’t something you can save up in a jar for a rainy day. Time is very precious because it is limited.

I appreciate the time you take to read my blog. I know there are a million things you could be doing with your time. It is very precious indeed.

15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

12 To whom he said, “This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.”

17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.

18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, “We will not walk therein.”

It is hard not to become self-righteous when we read how rebellious Israel was in the Old Testament. Why wouldn’t they want to enter into His rest?

They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the Lord, the habitation of justice, even the Lord, the hope of their fathers.

In the New Testament we find the promise of Jesus:

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

God wants us to have rest for our souls. This is a place of integrity where we can rest assured that what we have done and said will not come back to bite us. We seek truth and pursue it.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

So then, it is our Faith that allows us to enter into His rest.

4 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

What a joyous rest we have in Him! How great is the love of God! That we should obtain mercy.

Let your conscience be your guide. Be Holy because He is holy. Do all the things we have discussed, read, pray, worship, walk in the Spirit, and live with the desire in your heart to do what is right. Pursue peace.

And may God the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ give you rest for your souls.
