God’s Blessing Thursday, Dec 14 2017

The Lord Exalts the Humble.

113 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting
The name of the Lord is to be praised.
The Lord is high above all nations;
His glory is above the heavens.

Who is like the Lord our God,
Who is enthroned on high,
Who [c]humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in heaven and in the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
And lifts the needy from the ash heap,
To make them sit with [d]princes,
With the [e]princes of His people.
He makes the barren woman abide in the house
As a joyful mother of children.
[f]Praise [g]the Lord!

One week from today will be the 38th anniversary of the night my barren womb gave birth to a son. Praise God with me for the joy of being a mother in this season of remembering all the blessings our God bestows on us.

God’s Redemption Thursday, Feb 2 2017

My first knowledge of the word redemption came off of the bottom of store coupons which gave the written promise, “redeemable for 1/20th of 1 cent.” Even as a child, I knew that we received coupons every week in our newspaper. So I sat down and cut coupons. After the first twenty my fingers were getting tired. So I turned to redeeming bottles which at that time were five cents for the small ones and ten cents for the big ones. Then I caught on to the idea of going door to door. At one house I would say, “Could you donate an egg for the poor?”  And at the next house I would say, “Would you buy an egg for a quarter for the poor?” Of course, I was the “poor”. That didn’t last too long before one of my neighbors taught me the meaning of the words, “No Soliciting.”

I understood the idea of exchanging.

Imagine my shock and horror when I learned that Jesus had to die to redeem us from our sins. Well, that seemed a bit drastic to me. I just don’t know if I would be willing to give up my life to save someone let alone the whole world. I always imagined the agony of crucifixion and thought, “How cruel!”

It wasn’t very long before my own sins began to weigh heavy on my heart and I began to think, “Maybe it is like the coupons, it’s too hard to redeem yourself.” So, I went forward in church to accept Jesus as my redeemer. You had to say it out loud back then in front of God and everybody so everybody knew you were a sinner. Then they dunked you under water the following Sunday and it was cold. I had to go under twice because my toe popped up the first time.

John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Every Good and Perfect Gift Comes from Above Sunday, Feb 23 2014

James 1: 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Firstfruits are the very best, set apart for God, holy, and consecrated. They are reserved for God.

Exodus 23: 18 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.

19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

Father of lights, You delight in Your children
Father of lights, You delight in Your children

Every good and perfect gift comes from You
Every good and perfect gift comes from You
Every good and perfect gift comes from You
Father of lights

Father of lights, You never change, You have no turning
Father of lights, You never change, You have no turning.

1 Cor 12:For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

For some reason when I think of God’s perfect gifts I think of sons. His son He gave for us. My son He gave to me. My grandson. These are God’s perfect gifts. Thank-you Jesus!
