God’s Reality Saturday, Apr 22 2017

I’m pretty fascinated by God.

His reality is so far beyond what I can comprehend, though I search daily to know him more and more. He is the never ending story.

This morning, I woke up thinking about Him and just how awesome He really is to me.

Let’s take for example, numbers: they are infinite in both positive and negative directions. Yet each number independent of all the others has a specific value. This infinity can be found in fingerprints, snowflakes, irises of eyes, etc. etc. etc.

Music is another awesome thing. From bird songs to baritones, just plain awesome.

Chemistry is another awesome thing, unbelievably complex and yet…

Truth is unchanging….and yet Daniel 3:

²⁵ He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

²⁶ Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”

So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, ²⁷ and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

Now, I don’t know about you, but this is some pretty amazing stuff! We serve an awesome God who is able to create fire that does not burn, or even stink.

And even though God functions outside of time…He made a time for everything:

A Time for Everything

3 There is a time for everything,
    and a season for every activity under the heavens:

²     a time to be born and a time to die,
    a time to plant and a time to uproot,
³     a time to kill and a time to heal,
    a time to tear down and a time to build,
⁴     a time to weep and a time to laugh,
    a time to mourn and a time to dance,
⁵     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
    a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
⁶     a time to search and a time to give up,
    a time to keep and a time to throw away,
⁷     a time to tear and a time to mend,
    a time to be silent and a time to speak,
⁸     a time to love and a time to hate,
    a time for war and a time for peace.

God’s Cross Friday, Apr 14 2017

Symbol of Suffering

The cross is a symbol of suffering.

Luke 9:23 ²³ Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Romans 5:3-4 ³ Not only so, but we^[a] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴ perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Job 36:15 ¹⁵ But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering;
    he speaks to them in their affliction.

Psalm 22:24 ²⁴ For he has not despised or scorned
    the suffering of the afflicted one;
he has not hidden his face from him
    but has listened to his cry for help.

Today is Good Friday and I am reflecting on the cross of Christ and what He did for me. It is a day of reverence. Do we fast and pray? Confess the Word of God out loud? Do we acknowledge the sin in our lives through confession? Do we study the word? Do we live in faith and not fear? Do we accept the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Do we renew our relationship with Christ? Do we carry our cross; that symbol of suffering? Do we stop and pray at 3:00 PM when Jesus died on the cross? Do we reflect on the death of Jesus?

Dear LORD,

May we ever remember your sacrifice.

God’s Day Tuesday, Apr 11 2017

Some believe that everyday is God’s day. When defined as a set 24 hours, this is certainly true, but I’ve been pondering the fact that we know that God lives outside of time and yet he does everything within its’ proper time. This blog post just might blow your mind as I take you to a place you may have never been.

You may have never thought about this in exactly the way I intend to spell it out to you here. Oh, I know, “there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 What has been will be again,
    what has been done will be done again;
    there is nothing new under the sun.

But I also know that, ” with the LORD a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day”,  2 Peter 3:8  But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

So imagine for a moment that you could understand the concept of one day stretching out into a thousand years. This is one of those impossibilities that is possible with God. Just like the camel through the eye of the needle.

I can’t help but think that God takes great musings about this pondering of His awesomeness.

Back to “a day”. The best way to understand this is back at the beginning. Genesis 1:4-5

God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. ⁵ God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

Here we see exactly what God is doing. It is the essence of who He is that comes out so clearly. God “sees” what is good and separates it from darkness. Only God is good. Mark 10:18 ¹⁸ “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. ”

Why do I attempt to explain God to you? Every attempt I make fails miserably. I digress at every turn unable to put forth the meaning my mind so eagerly clings to in this expansion called “today”.

The point I’m trying to make is that every day is important, valuable, priceless, irreplaceable, unwavering in its’ capacity to glorify the God of the universe within the actions of His called and beyond the circumference of His chosen. We cannot contain all that God’s “Day” encompasses.

Only God can truly know his day and what it will be. Will it be full of gentleness, meekness and peace; absent of any need or want or worry? Or, will it be a “Day of Reckoning”? You decide.

God’s Breakthrough Sunday, Apr 2 2017

Now before you flog me and have me crucified hear me out. I’m writing you to tell you the truth about God. So many of you don’t even believe there is a God. If that is you then this post is for you.

If you do believe there is a God it will be okay for you to read this post because it just might help you to see God from a new perspective. Each person has there own perspective about God and who He is and how he operates. Maybe you’ll identify with mine.

“There is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

Almost since the beginning of time, man has sought the answer to who is God?

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6

Please don’t just skip over this verse because in it are the keys to the kingdom. God is telling us exactly who He is.

First he is the great “I AM.”  Exodus 3:14

Second he is the “Way”. Jesus said this to his disciples to reveal his true identity.  John 14:6

Third he is the “Truth”. It doesn’t say that he is truthful, although He is truthful. It says He is the “Truth”. He is the living breathing truth in each of us. When you are full of truth you are full of Him. The truth isn’t just something you speak, although it is that, it is a goal, a purpose, a “Way” of living. It is your whole focus.

The Scriptures are full of times Jesus said, “Verily, Verily, I say unto you.” That is like saying “Very truthfully, I say unto you.” There is no greater truth than Christ and him crucified. The facts of his life are the truth of your salvation. He is your salvation.

Fourth Jesus said, “No man comes to the Father but by me.” John 14:6 Again He is telling you who God is and how He operates. He operates through Christ. And when you are “in Christ” you have God in you by means of his Spirit.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

He says, “At the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD.” Romans 14:11

It does not say just “Christians”. It says “every knee”.

He says, “I am God Almighty”. Genesis 35:11

Fifth, He is the Life. This life he speaks of is eternal, everlasting, unending, for..EVER.

He says, “I am the Alpha and Omega”. Revelation 1:8

He is.

He is God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Ghost. We are made in his image; body, mind, and spirit.

” We are his workmanship.” Ephesians 2:10

“We were made to worship Him”. John 4:23

When God breaks through and reveals himself to you, it is no small thing. See how he revealed himself to Saul on the road to Damascus.  He says, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me.” Acts 9:4.
