My Confidence Saturday, Aug 25 2018

The verses for today may be found in the book of Psalms chapter 71 verses 4-6:

Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
    from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.

For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
    my confidence since my youth.
From birth I have relied on you;
    you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
    I will ever praise you.

And also verses 13-15 in 1 John:

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Ever had an inspiration that filled you up? A knowing? An assurance? And in that instant your mouth could not hold back the praises of Him who saved you? You called upon His name. You trusted. You knew that you knew that you were saved. Even the confidence comes from Him. Even your Faith is a free gift from Him. You think that if in that moment He called you to walk on the water, you could. The power of the Spirit led you deep into places that your flesh could not go.

As Christians, our hope is in Jesus.

Mining for Wisdom Monday, Aug 20 2018

The verses for today can be found in the book of Job chapter 28:

28 There is a mine for silver
    and a place where gold is refined.
Iron is taken from the earth,
    and copper is smelted from ore.
Mortals put an end to the darkness;
    they search out the farthest recesses
    for ore in the blackest darkness.
Far from human dwellings they cut a shaft,
    in places untouched by human feet;
    far from other people they dangle and sway.
The earth, from which food comes,
    is transformed below as by fire;
lapis lazuli comes from its rocks,
    and its dust contains nuggets of gold.
No bird of prey knows that hidden path,
    no falcon’s eye has seen it.
Proud beasts do not set foot on it,
    and no lion prowls there.
People assault the flinty rock with their hands
    and lay bare the roots of the mountains.
10 They tunnel through the rock;
    their eyes see all its treasures.
11 They search[a] the sources of the rivers
    and bring hidden things to light.

12 But where can wisdom be found?
    Where does understanding dwell?
13 No mortal comprehends its worth;
    it cannot be found in the land of the living.
14 The deep says, “It is not in me”;
    the sea says, “It is not with me.”
15 It cannot be bought with the finest gold,
    nor can its price be weighed out in silver.
16 It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir,
    with precious onyx or lapis lazuli.
17 Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it,
    nor can it be had for jewels of gold.
18 Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention;
    the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.
19 The topaz of Cush cannot compare with it;
    it cannot be bought with pure gold.

20 Where then does wisdom come from?
    Where does understanding dwell?
21 It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing,
    concealed even from the birds in the sky.
22 Destruction[b] and Death say,
    “Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.”
23 God understands the way to it
    and he alone knows where it dwells,
24 for he views the ends of the earth
    and sees everything under the heavens.
25 When he established the force of the wind
    and measured out the waters,
26 when he made a decree for the rain
    and a path for the thunderstorm,
27 then he looked at wisdom and appraised it;
    he confirmed it and tested it.
28 And he said to the human race,
    “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,
    and to shun evil is understanding.”

The Light of Men Sunday, Aug 19 2018

The verse for today can be found in the book of John chapter 1 verse 4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Here we have truth.

Simple.

Unadulterated.

It tells us in the book of Genesis that God said, “Let there be light.” And it also says that he separated the light from the darkness and he called the light “day”. And we find in 1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

As children of God, we are children of the day.

It is because of this that we are able to reflect the truth. It is spiritually genetic. As children of the light it is just who we are manifest. Even when we do what is right and good and true, the world cannot see it. John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

They didn’t see it in Christ and they can’t see it in us. They called Him a blasphemer.

In this world you will suffer persecution because he suffered persecution. But we rejoice in tribulation. For we know the truth and the truth has set us free from the law of sin and death.

We were created in the image of God.

Here we have truth.

Simple.

Unadulterated.

In Genesis God said, “Let us create man in our own image.”

God created life. God created light.

Psalm 104

Praise the Lord, my soul.

Lord my God, you are very great;
    you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
    he stretches out the heavens like a tent
    and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
    and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds his messengers,[a]
    flames of fire his servants.

He set the earth on its foundations;
    it can never be moved.
You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;
    the waters stood above the mountains.
But at your rebuke the waters fled,
    at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
they flowed over the mountains,
    they went down into the valleys,
    to the place you assigned for them.
You set a boundary they cannot cross;
    never again will they cover the earth.

10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
    it flows between the mountains.
11 They give water to all the beasts of the field;
    the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the sky nest by the waters;
    they sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
    the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
    and plants for people to cultivate—
    bringing forth food from the earth:
15 wine that gladdens human hearts,
    oil to make their faces shine,
    and bread that sustains their hearts.
16 The trees of the Lord are well watered,
    the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
17 There the birds make their nests;
    the stork has its home in the junipers.
18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;
    the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.

19 He made the moon to mark the seasons,
    and the sun knows when to go down.
20 You bring darkness, it becomes night,
    and all the beasts of the forest prowl.
21 The lions roar for their prey
    and seek their food from God.
22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
    they return and lie down in their dens.
23 Then people go out to their work,
    to their labor until evening.

24 How many are your works, Lord!
    In wisdom you made them all;
    the earth is full of your creatures.
25 There is the sea, vast and spacious,
    teeming with creatures beyond number—
    living things both large and small.
26 There the ships go to and fro,
    and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.

27 All creatures look to you
    to give them their food at the proper time.
28 When you give it to them,
    they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
    they are satisfied with good things.
29 When you hide your face,
    they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
    they die and return to the dust.
30 When you send your Spirit,
    they are created,
    and you renew the face of the ground.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
    may the Lord rejoice in his works—
32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,
    who touches the mountains, and they smoke.

33 I will sing to the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
    as I rejoice in the Lord.
35 But may sinners vanish from the earth
    and the wicked be no more.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

Praise the Lord.[b]

New Day Dawning Thursday, Aug 16 2018

This day draws near me,

The LORD is with me,

As I see the dawning light;

Strained from prayer throughout the night,

His voice so gently whispers,

“Come and see,

That the LORD, He is good.

Taste and see, the LORD, He is good.”

When suddenly,

Patterned distractions blind me,

Then I could not see,

I raised my shield in earnest fight,

Wiles of devil taking flight,

For the Word of God my heart displayed,

“With God there is no shadow of turning.”

My heart aflame, His Spirit burning.

For Christ my LORD portrayed,

one so feeble such as me,

could force the devil flee,

For with Jesus at my side,

I was able to abide

and to taste the flavor of the LORD,

and trace the scabbard of my sword.

We Had Love Monday, Aug 6 2018

Though the roads we travel in this life are rough…

We had love.

Though the trees may crash and fall….

We had it all,

Because, we had love.

Though darkness may lay like a blanket on me…

I am free,

Because, I had love.

Though the journey seems long…

We are strong,

Because, we had love.
