The Work of God’s Hands Saturday, Jul 21 2018

LORD,

The wonders of your creation are marvelous to behold. The motion, the color, the ever changing and enduring work of your hands is ever before me. My heart rejoices in the beauty of it all; the galaxies, the quiet pools, green pastures, floral landscapes, gently blowing fields of wheat, cherry blossoms, snow on mountain peaks, the moon by night upon the water, raging rivers, deep blue seas, the rocks and rills, my soul perceives, a ray of sun, a poppy field, an ocean view, a forest green, a fall scene, a misty morning, a starry warning, the calm before a storm, a rainbow through the sun, a nebula, the northern lights and a million other sights….

Pie Anyone? Friday, Jul 20 2018

The Holy Spirit gave me a big slice of this…no milk, no sweet cherries, just minced meat that went down hard. Sometimes, I’m wrong and I just have to say, “I’m sorry” and hope the Holy Spirit will heal us with it’s serving. He said, “Without this, there is no true repentance.”

My Contrition Saturday, Jul 14 2018

The Scripture for today may be found in the book of Isaiah chapter 6 verses 1 and 2:

Heaven Is God’s Throne

66 Thus says the Lord,

“Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.
Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that [a]I may rest?
“For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord.
“But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

As we come before the LORD this morning let’s be prayerful, mindful, admitting all to Him whatsoever we may find within ourselves to confess. Now at this time, I would caution you against the wiles of the devil for he would seek to convince you that anything you’ve done can’t be all that bad; after all you’re a Christian.

The devil loves to see a Christian fall. He relishes every opportunity to accuse the brethren.

So when you come before the LORD let your attitude be humble. Ask Him to help you to see those things you may have said or done no matter how slight that may have offended a brother or sister. Then go and make amends. Say you are sorry. Ask forgiveness. Show your remorse to them and to God Almighty.

Then when the devil attacks you with regards to it you can tell him, “You are a liar. I trust God’s word which says, “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”1 John 1:9

And remember too, Peter’s admonition in 1 Peter 3:8-12

[d]To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but [e]giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 10 For,

The one who desires life, to love and see good days,
Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 He must turn away from evil and do good;
He must seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears attend to their prayer,
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Self-Discipline Friday, Jul 13 2018

The Scripture for today may be found in 2 Peter 1:2-8:

2 Peter 1:2-8 Discipline yourself….examine yourself….test yourself…

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Routine is not godliness. It keeps you in the first “add” which is “add to your faith virtue”; you must graduate on to “and virtue knowledge” through bible study. And then move on to “and knowledge temperance” through prayer. And then move on to “and temperance patience” through waiting on the LORD and watching for his coming. And then move on to “and to patience godliness” through well doing. And then move on to “and to godliness brotherly kindness” through grace and forgiveness to others. And then move on to “and to brotherly kindness charity” through the love of the Holy Spirit within you.

It is not that you no longer have faith when you acquire virtue but rather each is built one upon the other until God is glorified.
