What About Saturday? Saturday, Apr 20 2019

What about Saturday?Yesterday, my son asked me, Mom, we always hear about Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but why don’t we ever hear about Saturday?I’ve been thinking on it and I had to ask myself what will I answer when someone asks me that question again in the future. How do we answer this question? Is it a day of “mourning” or is it a day of “hope”? His disciples grieved on Saturday when His tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers. What do we do with the days between “Son-days”?What do we do when we are between a rock and a hard place? What do we do when we are tired and aching from a long day’s labor? Do we rejoice and again I say, do we rejoice evermore? Do we trust in Him even if he seems distant in our trials? Do we trust His promise: “I will never leave you nor forsake you”?Will we continue to marvel as Mary marveled when Gabriel told her she would give birth to a son? Will we be astonished at His teaching as the doctors of the law in the temple when he was 12? Will we be astounded by his understanding and knowledge? Will we say, “Never a man spake like this man!”Will we wonder like Nicodemus, “How can a man be born again?” Will we worship like the shepherds or the three wise men? Will we rejoice in due time like Simeon?Or will we reject Him like the Pharisees, “How has this man become learned having never been educated?”The world is overwhelmed by its’ problems. Everything the world needs can be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ, but the world will not receive nor believe,Do we face the truth? Do we face the facts? He is still influencing the world today, still powerful, still saving, still able to reach through the ages and change men, still speaking, still healing, still moving, still teaching, still preaching, still reviving, still restoring. Can you explain it? How does He do what He does today? How does He know what you need and provide it? His timing is perfect. He teaches of God every day. We hallow His name in our prayers. We worship Him. We emulate Him. He came to seek and save that which was lost. He came that we might have life and that more abundantly. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He has gone to prepare a place for us. “No man can pluck you from my hand,” He said. Will you ask the important questions? Will you answer Him when He calls today?

Psalm 5:1-3

Give ear to my words, O Lord,
