Light is not merely the absence of darkness. No, it is something more than that. John 8: 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

When we are born, we emerge from a place of darkness into the light of the world. When we are “born again”, we emerge from a world “full of spiritual darkness” into the light of life. Jesus said He was the light of the world. He is the light of the world that will not end.

Ephesians 3:

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

This is eternal life, that we may know Him. We know that we know Him if we keep his commandments.

John 1:3-5King James Version (KJV)

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Genesis 1King James Version (KJV)

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

It is the life of Christ that is the light of men. Not the sun, but the Son. When we know the light of God, we know Christ. When Jesus dwells in us then we become the light of life to those who see us.

“Let your light so shine before men that they will glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

This is our call, our heart’s desire, to live for Him, with Him, and in Him. To live in the light of life.
